  • Contract Summary

The Emergency Response Unit (ERU) has been in service since 1993 attending at both major and minor incidents along the railway within the London M25 area. The ERU provides unique support to NR as its teams and specialist units are equipped to deal with all manner of incidents from derailments, terrorist attacks and fatalities to major infrastructure damage, along with day-to-day services that keep the railway moving. The ERU, unlike any other services, provides a 24/7 call-out and, it is also able to use blue lights to ensure rapid response during major incidents across the network. All equipment, specialist staff and ERU response units are owned by LUL. LUL have supported Network Rail with the ERU services on an ad hoc basis throughout the years as an industry partner, and this became more of a regular occurrence during the London 2012 Olympics to keep London moving whilst on centre stage. Since then, NR have continued to utilise the service as it provides valuable assistance to NR in recovering from incidents when LUL can support.
