Summary of the contracting process

The Defence Equipment and Support organisation based in Bristol is initiating a procurement process titled "DGM/2052 Segmented Sourcing Strategy" within the defence and security industry category. The procurement process is currently in the planning stage and involves significant engagement with the industry as part of its strategy development. An industry engagement event is scheduled for 8th January 2026 at the Battlelab in Dorset. Key milestones include an engagement event followed by the release of a Request for Information (RFI), with deadlines for supplier interest on 12th December 2025 and confirmation of attendance by 19th December 2025. The initiative aims to enhance munition capability and supply chain resilience aligned with government defence strategies.

This procurement offers substantial opportunities for growth and innovation, particularly for businesses specialising in weapons, ammunition, explosives, pyrotechnics, and associated defence services. The process opens doors for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) capable of delivering comprehensive solutions to the munitions supply chain while promoting onshoring and agility. Business consultancy services related to administration, marketing, and procurement may also find relevant engagement opportunities within this tender. The contract period starts in April 2028 with possibilities for renewal, offering long-term business prospects. Participants should provide evidence of Personal Security Clearances to compete effectively in subsequent stages.

Notice Title

DGM/2052 Segmented Sourcing Strategy

Notice Description

Industry Engagement Event Following publication of the Strategic Defence Review (SDR) and the Defence Industrial Strategy, the MOD is seeking to engage with Industry to discuss opportunities of the MOD Industry boundary in delivering Munition capability and increased resilience within the Supply Chain. To that end, MoD would like to invite Industry to an update on the Segmented Sourcing Strategy (SSS) and one-to-one engagements on the 8 Jan 26 at the Battlelab. It is inviting feedback on this subject in relation to the current requirement for the provision of c. 188 individual munitions (subject to confirmation via future Contract Tender Notice), covering various small arms ammunition, explosive munitions and pyrotechnics, and services surrounding this. This engagement will build on previous industry days around this procurement. DE&S (Defence Equipment & Support) hopes to gain further information on how this service could be delivered to maximise innovation and agility, and to better understand how the MoD can support onshoring within the munitions space. The information provided will help DE&S to consider and shape the service requirements and better understand what the market needs to fulfil the expectations of the contract. The industry day will be made up of a series of presentations, following which it is the intention of the Authority to offer one-to-one sessions with attendees lasting no longer than 20 minutes each. Due to capacity and time restrictions, we may be unable to offer sessions to all attendees. Therefore, sessions will be offered on a first come first served basis. Suppliers should note that any specified total contract values are the Authority's best estimates. The final value and contract term for this potential requirement will be informed by this Market Engagement activity. Interested parties MUST indicate their desire to attend by no later than 12th December 2025 using the email address supplied in this notice. The Authority will issue confirmation of supplier attendance by 1700 on 19th December 2025. Please do NOT attend the event without receiving such a confirmation as you will NOT be permitted entry. For clarity it is to be noted that potential suppliers WILL BE required to provide evidence of PSC (Personal Security Clearances) should they decide to participate in any resulting procurement competition. In issuing this notice, DE&S is not committing to carry out any procurement in relation to the requirements stated in this PIN. Non-participation in the Industry Day will not preclude any organisation from participating in any future competition. If you have responded to the original UK2 Notice issued 14th November, there is no need to respond to this notice as your details have already been recorded.

Planning Information

The event is to be held from 10:30AM on Thursday 8th January 2026 at the Battlelab, Dorset Innovation Park, Dorchester, DT2 8GB. Due to venue capacity restrictions, attendance is currently limited to one representative per supplier or supplier group. Should additional spaces become available, we will notify you accordingly. DE&S intend to release a RFI (Request for Information) questionnaire after the event. Details of the RFI are expected to follow.
