Summary of the contracting process

Cambridgeshire County Council is in the planning stage of procuring a back-office system and portal/application for managing electric vehicle (EV) charge points. This project aims to streamline management and enhance service quality for users and the council, featuring a responsive customer service and a comprehensive application for EV charge point management. The focus is currently on premarket engagement, with a deadline set for 1 July 2026 for participation in an online questionnaire. Located in Alconbury Weald, Huntingdon, the procurement is within the service industry category and involves regions within the UK, specifically UKH12. The council aims to commence the new contract by 12 October 2026.

This tender presents significant growth opportunities for businesses specialising in electric vehicles, software development, and IT consulting services. SMEs and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) are particularly encouraged to participate due to the procurement's suitability criteria. Engaging in the premarket phase enables businesses to influence the development of the service specification, potentially enhancing their competitive edge in the final tendering stage. Businesses equipped with innovative solutions for EV charge management and IT services are well-positioned to benefit from this opportunity.
