Notice Information
Notice Title
Market Engagement for Lone working support
Notice Description
Anglian Water operates over 6000 sites, spread over a large geographic area, from the Humber to the Thames estuary. Over the years, significant efficiencies have been made to the operational running through advances in technology and automation. An outcome of these advancements has seen the need for fewer operational staff to maintain expected levels of service. As a consequence of these advancements, it is now a fairly common occurrence for operational employees to be sent to site working on their own - and become a 'Lone Worker' (LW). There is a risk that an incident or accident may occur impacting the LW's health and safety that requires help and assistance. As part of its duty of care Anglian Water has a Mobile Phone Lone Worker System that is used by its 3,000 (approx.) workers that have the potential to be a LW. Before starting a job and once on site the system is activated by the LW using his company mobile phone to record his location and to set an alert time period that is then monitored centrally by the Operational Management Centre (OMC) team in Lincoln. An alert is raised by the system if the LW doesn't update using his mobile before the end of the set period or if a panic button is pressed - an escalation procedure is then followed by the OMC to make contact and if necessary find the LW.
