Summary of the contracting process

The Met Office, a central government public authority in the United Kingdom, is in the planning stage of a procurement process titled "Cyber Security and Physical Security awareness training." This project focuses on the creation of an innovative training programme, aiming to enhance cyber and physical security awareness, with anticipated benefits such as a solid security induction and tailored training for specific roles like developers and executives. The initiative falls within the services industry category and will be primarily located in the UK. The current stage involves market engagement with a deadline set for 6th August 2026, with the contract expected to commence on 20th December 2026. The procurement process will be conducted under standard Met Office service terms or relevant framework conditions.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses, particularly those specialising in training software packages and safety training services, to contribute to a government-led initiative. SMEs are specifically encouraged to participate and align their capabilities with the Met Office's strategic goals for delivering cost-effective and comprehensive security training solutions. The project’s focus on customised learning pathways and varied content styles also opens the door for creative and flexible learning solution providers. Companies with expertise in developing accessible and engaging educational content for various professional roles and with a capacity for innovation in the public sector can leverage this opportunity to expand their service reach and enhance their portfolio within the UK government's supply chain.
