Summary of the contracting process

The Northern Lighthouse Board (NLB) is currently at the planning stage of a procurement process for Dry Dock Services for the NLV Pharos, a 20-year special survey project. This project is expected to take place within specified dates, with dry dock activities scheduled between 1st and 23rd February 2027, and an overall timeline stretching from 28th January to 28th February 2027. Suppliers interested are invited to express their interest for providing the required services by 5th August 2026. The procurement is classified under marine construction works, located in the United Kingdom and Europe, with the estimated tender timeline involving documents being published by 10th August 2026, submissions due by 8th September 2026, and an award anticipated by 22nd September 2026. The NLB operates from Edinburgh and can be reached via procurement@nlb.org.uk for further details.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses engaged in marine construction, dry-docking, or vessel laying-up services. It is particularly ideal for firms that can provide comprehensive dry-dock facilities and manage extensive vessel inspection and overhaul processes. The estimated contract value lies around £660,000, making it an attractive opportunity for business growth in the marine industry. Companies with capabilities in hull inspections, safety equipment overhauls, and other specialised vessel maintenance services would find this tender relevant. Additionally, the project's flexibility concerning dry dock location within the UK and Europe widens participation prospects for suitable service providers.
