Summary of the contracting process

National Museums Liverpool is procuring graphic production and installation for exhibition galleries and venues across its seven Liverpool museums. The requirement covers exhibition and display graphics, including large-format printed wallpaper, graphic panels on substrates, printed and cut vinyl, labels, recyclable or sustainable signage and screen printing. Work will support new exhibitions and displays as well as the maintenance of permanent galleries, with the scope varying according to the design and venue. This is a multi-provider framework for contractors delivering exhibition graphics, signage and related installation services. The delivery location is the United Kingdom, with the buying organisation based at World Museum on William Brown Street, Liverpool. Suppliers should be able to produce and install varied graphic materials for museum and exhibition environments.

The procurement has reached tender: National Museums Liverpool invited offers through an open, two-stage competitive flexible procedure. It is a closed framework using call-offs both with and without reopening competition, with up to five suppliers appointed. The enquiry deadline was 25 August 2026 at 23:59, and tenders were due by 1 September 2026 at 10:00. The award decision was due by 20 October 2026 at 23:59:59. The framework contract period runs from 2 November 2026 to 4 November 2030. Its estimated value is £333,333 excluding VAT, or £400,000 including VAT. The first stage assesses mandatory criteria, technical questions and pricing; the eight highest-scoring suppliers proceed to stage two to submit samples. Evaluation is 70% quality, 10% pricing and 20% samples.

This opportunity suits specialist exhibition-graphics, signage, print-production and installation contractors, including small and medium-sized enterprises. Strong candidates will have the technical capability and experience to produce accurate, durable graphics in a range of formats and substrates, including large-scale wallpaper, panels, vinyl, labels, sustainable signage and screen-printed work. They should be able to interpret varying designs and specifications, adapt production to different exhibition venues, and install finished graphics to a high standard. The requirement is relevant to suppliers with experience working in museums, galleries, exhibitions or comparable visitor-facing environments. Capacity is important: National Museums Liverpool typically delivers 18 to 22 exhibitions and displays each year across seven venues, including at least five large-scale projects, while also maintaining permanent galleries.
