Summary of the contracting process

The Royal Household is procuring automatic fire detection and fire-alarm equipment installation, replacement, commissioning, planned preventative maintenance and reactive repair services. The works cover Windsor Castle Upper Ward, Middle and Lower Wards, Control Room, Mews and Home Park, together with Kensington Palace’s Main Palace, Ancillary Accommodation and Old Barracks. This is a fire-safety installation and maintenance requirement, combining works with ongoing services. The estate includes listed and historic buildings, scheduled ancient monuments and other buildings of historic interest. Several sites have public access and all are treated as secure installations. Although there will be one contract, individual installation projects are expected to be managed separately from the service and maintenance activities.

Experience managing work in buildings with public access will be relevant, as will the capacity to coordinate activity across Windsor and London locations. The estate consists of a number of listed and historic buildings, scheduled ancient monuments and buildings of historic interest, many of which have some form of public access and all of which are considered secure installations. It is envisaged that whilst a single contract, individual installation projects will be managed as separate projects to the service and maintenance contracts.
