Summary of the contracting process

Sellafield Limited procured specialist condition-monitoring and condition-based-maintenance services for its site in Cumbria. The work covers developing, deploying and sustaining condition-monitoring capabilities, supporting a wider nuclear decommissioning estate and helping safe, reliable, compliant and cost-effective nuclear operations and waste management. The requirement is intended to supplement Sellafield’s internal capability, provide consistent delivery across the site and support a more mature, data-driven maintenance approach. Services include technical testing, analysis and consultancy, engineering support, monitoring and control, detection and analysis equipment, wireless and satellite communications, software and information-processing consultancy, installation, hardware consultancy, and industrial and technical training. The buying organisation is Sellafield Limited, and the procurement is categorised as services.

The procurement has reached completion through a restricted procedure. It was divided into one lot, whose recorded status is cancelled, while an active award and contract are recorded for Uie. The contract was signed on 24 August 2026. The planned contract duration was five years. The award used technical quality, social value and price criteria weighted 70%, 10% and 20% respectively. One bid was recorded, from an SME, submitted electronically, with a valid bid value of £1,727,050. Uie is the selected supplier and must subcontract 25% of the contract value. The available outcome data records an active award and active contract, but does not state an awarded contract value or an award date.

This procurement indicates demand from Sellafield for specialist industrial condition monitoring and condition-based maintenance in a nuclear operating and decommissioning environment. A credible future competitor would need practical expertise in designing, deploying and sustaining condition-monitoring programmes, applying asset data to maintenance decisions, and delivering consistent services across a complex site. Relevant capability may include engineering analysis, monitoring and control, detection and analysis systems, communications infrastructure, software and information-processing solutions, equipment installation, hardware consultancy, and technical training. Nuclear-sector experience, strong compliance and safety practices, and the capacity to support reliable waste-management and operational activities would be important. The evaluation placed greatest emphasis on technical quality, while social value and price also affected the result. The requirement also demonstrates a 25% subcontracting model.
