Planning Information
Ceredigion County Council undertook a period of preliminary market engagement during September 2026 in relation to the proposed Growing Mid Wales Datgloi forestry decarbonisation project. Discussions were held with a small number of organisations possessing relevant technical knowledge, experience and expertise. The purpose of the engagement was to improve the Authority's understanding of the market, inform the development of the requirement, explore potential delivery approaches and assist in determining an appropriate procurement strategy. Participation in the engagement did not confer any advantage, preference or commitment in relation to any future procurement opportunity. No supplier was selected, shortlisted or otherwise favoured as a result of the engagement. The engagement demonstrated market interest in the project and identified a range of potential technical, operational and delivery approaches. This complemented wider stakeholder engagement undertaken through previous project development activities, which identified interest from forestry operators, timber hauliers, timber processors and other industry stakeholders seeking practical solutions to support the decarbonisation of forestry and timber-related operations in Mid Wales. The information obtained through the market engagement has been used solely to inform the Authority's understanding of the market and the development of its requirements. The engagement has not determined the final specification, procurement procedure, award criteria, contract structure or the selection of any future supplier. Any future procurement will be conducted through a fair, open and competitive process. All interested and eligible organisations will have an equal opportunity to participate. Relevant non-confidential information and key findings arising from the preliminary market engagement will be made available through the procurement documentation where appropriate to ensure transparency and maintain a level playing field for all potential tenderers.
