Summary of the contracting process

Careers Wales, a public sector organisation based in Cardiff, has announced the award of a contract for a new Learning Management System (LMS) to Kallidus, headquartered in Cirencester. The LMS aims to provide a modern, user-friendly, and integrated platform to support the learning and development needs of over 600 Careers Wales employees across 40 offices in Wales. This project falls under the services category with a focus on software package and information systems as well as IT services. The procurement reached the award stage, with the contract being actively signed on 9th December 2024. The total value of the contract is approximately £100,000, covering a three-year period with a potential one-year extension. The new system is expected to integrate seamlessly with existing technologies like Office 365 and Dynamics, including support for multilingual functionality in both English and Welsh.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in software development, IT consultancy, and systems integration. Companies with expertise in cloud-based LMS solutions, particularly those that can offer Software as a Service (SaaS) and meet UK data protection and security standards, will find this an excellent growth opportunity. The tender requirements indicate a need for user-friendly, accessible systems that support social learning, robust reporting, and seamless integration with other business critical software. Given the emphasis on bilingual functionality and data migration from an existing LMS, organisations adept at handling complex technical requirements and ensuring compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) will be well-suited to engage in such procurement processes.
