The main aim of this project is to convert this conventional operating Theatre 2 into an UHD (4K) integrated theatre where all the medical equipment is suspended from the ceiling and controlled by easy access touch screen panels.

Theatre 2 is one of 10 theatres including 3 x DSU theatres and the Interventional Theatre at University Hospital Ayr (UHA), NHS Ayrshire & Arran. Theatre 2 is mainly used for General Surgery. The main aim of this project is to convert this conventional operating Theatre 2 into an UHD (4K) integrated theatre where all the medical equipment is suspended from the ceiling and controlled by easy access touch screen panels. In addition, other theatre features such as room and operating theatre lighting are also managed from the touch screen panel. We expect all the equipment and facilities to be state of the art and utilise available cutting edge technology such as 4K high resolution, high definition displays and high resolution video recording, image capture, storage and streaming through a local area network. Images and video recordings are saved at secure servers through the hospital network as part of the patient notes. All equipment must be installed and commissioned in strict accordance with manufacturer's specific requirements. Where new medical equipment and lighting is to be installed they shall be provided with an uninterruptable power supply in the event of mains failure.. Economic operators may be excluded from this competition if they are in any of the situations referred to in regulation 8 and 9 of the Procurement (Scotland) Regulations 2016.
