Notice Description
The University is currently undertaking preliminary market consultation for a new Web Publishing Platform. This includes a request for suppliers to 'Express their Interest' and to provide further information to help with the University's research in his area. It is anticipated that a number of suppliers will be invited to deliver a product demonstration, this will be dependant on the number of interest the University received. Please note, the information that tis requested is for information only, to help gather information on the market and to inform budgetary requirements, these will no be used as a means of comparison or evaluation. Web Development Framework
The awarded contract will build the new website, allowing our migration from the current system to the new one. After that, The University will look to bring the development of the system in house. This will require a call off approach whereby service and professional services are called upon when the University requires it.
EC0878 - Web Publishing PlatformThe University Web Strategy (https://edin.ac/web-strategy-2018) has identified a series of activities, including the development of a new Website Publishing Platform. Aligned with the delivery of a Website Development Procurement Framework and other supporting activities, this will enable in the provision of comprehensive web publishing services from ISG (Information Services Group, the University's central IT & Library function). This platform needs to be flexible and geared for iterative improvement to support ongoing business and user demands. The delivered solution must support central and local innovation, allowing website teams in schools to make use and extend appropriately, aligned with agreed University standards and guide lines. Overall, there needs to be assurance of delivering a high-quality, future-proof and long-term sustainable University Website and aligned web publishing services, backed by a team with the requisite knowledge and skills. These services need to be fit for purpose to support the communications of a complex and devolved organization like the University of Edinburgh. The objectives of this programme of work are as follows: - A clear, compelling facility to create high-quality websites that meet organisational needs at low cost with minimal support. - A product culture of continual improvement to keep the platform fit for purpose for the long term. - Long-term cost savings from increased use of centrally provided platform, standards and cloud hosting. - To exemplify and lead the further development the University digital experience design standards. - The offer of a baseline digital service for all users providing guidance, training, standards and support around user experience design, content development and analytics, supported by a premium, paid service offering consultancy and practice in the same areas. - To facilitate an engaged and vibrant community which shares best practice, guides ongoing platform development and supports peer learning for the continual improvement of the University Web Estate. - A common strategy for content based on key user journeys. - An analytics platform which supports data-driven decision-making. - Development of long-term partnerships with external providers to enhance capacity, update internal practice and offer additional choice to users while maintaining internally defined standards. - Simplified governance and management of the University web estate, and reduced organisational risk through the collective management of factors such as information security, privacy and accessibility.
