With around 6000 students, the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Strathclyde is one of the largest in the UK. The Faculty delivers high-quality, advanced training across the Engineering disciplines through an extensive portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate courses and leading research programmes. This portfolio is apportioned across eight academic departments, including the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE). The Department of MAE are introduciing a new MSc in Advanced Mechanical Engineering (AME) with Pilot Training. The University Department of MAE require a flight training organisation to provide the practical flight training element of the programme. The training organisation will provide the infrastructure and services to deliver flight training and support students in working towards an ICAO recognised PPL qualification.

The University of Strathclyde's Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE) requires a flight training organisation to support in delivery of the practical flight training element of it's new MSc in Advanced Mechanical Engineering (AME) with Pilot training. The flight training organisation will deliver the infrastructure and services to deliver flight training and support the students in working towards an International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) recognised Private Pilot Licence. This will include providing 45 hours of flight instruction and supervised solo flying for each student by a CAA qualified instructor, as well as providing suitable aircraft and airfield facilities. Scheduling flight time throughout the academic year and around students' academic timetable as appropriate. The flight training organisation should also provide support and advice to students regarding how and when to book CAA examinations (as required for the award of an ICAO PPL).. Economic operators may be excluded from the competition if they are in any of the situations referred to in Regulation 58 of the Public Contract (Scotland) Regulations 2015. Renewal: 1 x 12 month extension available subject to agreement by both parties.
