Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process for the project titled "Gas Servicing, Reactive Maintenance and Planned Upgrades 2021/22 – 2023/24" was carried out by Blackwood Homes and Care, a registered social landlord based in Edinburgh. Categorised under "Housing and community amenities," this opportunity spanned across mainland Scotland, focusing on works related to gas-powered domestic heating systems. The project involved several stages, beginning with a tender process announced in January 2021, closing for submissions on 12 February 2021. The contract, using an open procurement procedure, was initially awarded to KINGDOM GAS SERVICES in June 2021, valued at £684,154, and subsequently to Richard Irvin FM Limited in September 2020, valued at £716,026, addressing emergency repairs and planned upgrades over a two-year period.

This tender presented a substantial opportunity for growth, especially for companies specialising in heating system maintenance and upgrades. SMEs and large enterprises, particularly those experienced with extensive property service contracts and possessing a strong understanding of reactive repairs and upgrades, were in a favourable position to compete. Organisations that could offer around-the-clock service coverage and demonstrate effective handling of large-scale property portfolios would benefit from such contracts, ensuring compliance and high service standards are met for significant residential populations across Scotland.
