Summary of the contracting process

The National Library of Scotland, in conjunction with the National Records of Scotland, is initiating a tender process for the "Archival Boxboard" project. This procurement is focused on the Recreation, Culture, and Religion industry category, specifically dealing with archival needs. Located in Edinburgh, the tender is in the active stage, with the deadline for submissions set for 4 May 2026 at 11:00 AM. The procurement, valued at £480,000, follows an open procedure, ensuring fair competition and transparency. Interested parties can submit their responses electronically through the specified submission portal provided by Public Contracts Scotland.

This tender offers substantial opportunities for businesses, particularly those specialising in archival materials and services. Given the requirement for archival boxboard that aligns with ISO 16245:2009 standards and involves cutting and folding at the premises using KasemakeCAD box making machines, businesses equipped with relevant technology and expertise stand to benefit. Additionally, the contract's potential extensions can promote long-term business growth, with an annual joint spend averaging £80,000. Suppliers providing quality assurance compliant with BS 4971:2017 standards, or capable of uplifting pallets and boxboard off-cuts, will find this project aligned with their capabilities. This is an attractive opportunity for any firm looking to expand its market presence within the public sector archival supply chain.
