Summary of the contracting process

The National Library of Scotland is planning a procurement process to acquire a "Film Scanner and Digitisation System," which is currently in the planning stage. This involves supplying, delivering, installing, and maintaining a film scanner to create digital copies of films of various gauges. The contract will be executed at the Library's Kelvin Hall premises in Glasgow. The procurement falls under the "Recreation, culture and religion" industry category and has an estimated contract value of £100,000. Key dates to consider include a future contract notice expected on 15 July 2026. The open procurement process will involve demonstration opportunities, either on-site or online, requiring the winning solution to be operational by 31 March 2027.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses in the film digitisation technology sector, particularly those experienced in handling delicate film materials and audio-visual synchronisation. Companies with expertise in developing robust yet gentle film scanners will find this contract particularly attractive. The procurement method is open, allowing various firms to present innovative solutions that meet the Library's specific requirements. This is a substantial opportunity for suppliers looking to establish or expand their presence in the UK cultural heritage sector.
