Swale Borough Council (SBC) is conducting a soft market testing exercise to explore potential management options for its leisure facilities from April 2027. We would like to invite your organisation to participate in this process. SBC currently owns two wet and dry leisure facilities, Sheppey Leisure Complex, Sheerness (incorporating Sheppey Healthy Living Centre and Sheerness Swimming Pool) and Swallows Leisure Centre, Sittingbourne, both of which are leased to Swale Community Leisure Trust (SCLT). SCLT employs Serco Leisure as their managing agents to operate the facilities on a day-to-day basis. There is planned major investment into the dryside facilities at Sheppey Leisure Complex in Sheerness which is due to commence in February 2025 and complete in March 2027. Swallows Leisure Centre in Sittingbourne has recently undertaken a refurbishment. As part of the procurement, we are considering the inclusion of a third facility alongside the two sites stated above; this facility, known as Faversham Pools, Faversham, is currently split in ownership between SBC and Faversham Pools Trust. Corsham Town Council is seeking to appoint an experienced specialist skatepark company to design and construct a new skatepark at Springfield Recreation Ground. The successful company will be expected to work closely with the Town Council and the Corsham Skatepark Project Group; to design a new skatepark; to support efforts to access grants from national organisations (and to support the Corsham Skatepark Project Group in its efforts to raise funds locally); to manage the planning process for the new skatepark and ultimately, to construct and deliver a fantastic new facility for skaters in Corsham. Whilst the Town Council has earmarked a substantial sum towards the project and the Corsham Skatepark Project Group has started to raise funds from the local community, not all the funding is in place yet. As such, the contractor will be initially appointed as a speculative partner. Once a design has been agreed, planning permission has been secured and the necessary funding is in place, the contractor will be asked to enter into a JCT contract with Corsham Town Council to construct the new skatepark. The new skatepark is to be constructed on the site of the existing 400m2 facility, though there is scope, and the aspiration amongst local skaters, to expand the footprint if funding and the eventual design permits. We are inviting quotations up to a maximum of £250,000 for the supply and installation of new equipment on the village green play area in Fernwood village, Newark-on-Trent. The project's aim is to replace outdated current playground and sports equipment and to increase physical activity in children and families whilst reflecting the natural environment of the village and nearby woodland. We are looking for a contractor to replace the current equipment within an enclosed space maintaining the current footprint plus replace the sports facilities nearby. Equipment within the enclosed space should be suitable for an age range of 1 to 12 years old and sports equipment should be suitable for ages 12 to 16 years old. Whilst the internal footprint of the enclosed space cannot change, there is some flexibility to extend the sports area to include additional equipment and activities. If necessary, groundworks can be completed in the area. We want the play features to be eye catching, unique, visually attractive and to reflect the natural environment of Fernwood Village.
