Summary of the contracting process

The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) has completed a procurement process for Network Carrier Services, primarily for the Greater Manchester Police (GMP). This service will support and maintain the networking and connectivity infrastructure essential for the operation of CCTV and ANPR systems. The contract, with an estimated annual value between £300,000 and £450,000, will run for a maximum of five years, including a fixed term of three years with an option for the remaining two years. The procurement method used was an open procedure, and the contract period commenced on 24th October 2017, concluding on 23rd October 2020.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for businesses in the telecommunications and security services sectors, particularly those equipped to deliver networking infrastructure and related support services. Companies that specialise in closed-circuit television and surveillance systems, as well as those capable of supplying and maintaining communication equipment, would be well-positioned to compete. Given the contract's focus on service delivery to GMP, firms should be prepared to demonstrate compliance with strict service delivery standards and performance metrics.
