Summary of the contracting process

The Welsh Government is set to initiate a procurement process for the supply, packing, and distribution of Baby Bundles, aimed at providing expectant parents in Wales with essential baby care products. This tender falls under the classification of 'goods' within the baby care products industry and is currently in the planning stage. The closing date for registration of interest is 11th March 2022, with a deadline for questions set for 4th March 2022. The procurement is anticipated to involve a potential contract for 25,000 to 35,000 bundles annually, with distribution commencing from February 2023. The contract will initially be for two years, with the possibility of a one-year extension.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses in the baby care and packaging industries, as it invites organisations capable of sourcing, assembling, and delivering bundled products that meet safety and industry standards. Companies specialising in logistics, graphic design, and customer service—especially those with bilingual capabilities in English and Welsh—would be particularly well-suited to compete for this contract. Collaboration in a consortium may be advantageous, as the Welsh Government seeks a single entity or a responsible partnership to efficiently manage the numerous aspects of the Baby Bundles initiative.

It is desirable that the packaging be environmentally friendly. 8 Ensure that a bilingual customer contact point/helpline is made available and all enquiries, customer support, and/or cancellations of bundles are dealt with in the language of preference (English/Welsh).
