Summary of the contracting process

The Carmarthenshire County Council, in collaboration with several local councils including Ceredigion, Neath Port Talbot, Pembrokeshire, and Swansea, is planning a procurement process for the "South West Wales Regional Civil Engineering Contractors Framework". This tender falls under the works category, specifically focusing on construction-related activities. The initial phases of this procurement process are currently underway, with key support initiatives scheduled for September 2022, including pre-tender workshops and a live-tender webinar. The project aims to define the lotting structure for various civil engineering works across the region, specifically targeting the areas of Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Neath Port Talbot, Pembrokeshire, and Swansea.

This framework presents significant opportunities for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the construction sector, particularly those proficient in civil engineering and related construction works. The inclusion of value-banded lots for various project sizes makes it easier for smaller businesses to compete. Businesses that specialise in areas such as demolition, road maintenance, and public lighting will find ample bidding opportunities. Engaging with the support offered by Business Wales will further assist applicants in preparing competitive bids, thereby fostering growth potential within the region.
