Summary of the contracting process

Southern Universities Procurement Consortium, operated by Southern Universities Management Services, is considering a framework for curriculum management and timetabling software and associated services. The requirement may cover software provision, implementation, configuration, integration, support, maintenance and ongoing development, alongside consultancy, professional and related services. Solutions are intended to help higher and further education institutions and other eligible public sector organisations plan, manage and optimise curriculum activity and timetabling. Related needs may include scheduling, resource allocation, data management, workflow, reporting and system integration. The work is expected to be delivered across the United Kingdom. The main category is software and information systems, with supporting IT, technical consultancy, software support and higher education services.

This procurement is at the planning stage: the buyer is considering whether to proceed and has not invited tenders. It intends to use a competitive flexible procedure to establish a framework agreement, subject to approvals; the scope, design, value, timetable and requirements may change or the procurement may be discontinued. The current record gives an estimated value of £0 including VAT. One planned lot is marked as suitable for SMEs. The buyer’s expected date for a subsequent notice is 11 January 2027. If established, the lot is expected to run from 1 June 2027 to 31 May 2029, with a possible extension to 31 May 2031 and renewal provision.

This will suit software suppliers, education technology providers, systems integrators and specialist consultancies able to deliver curriculum management and timetabling platforms for higher and further education. Relevant capability includes configuring and implementing complex software, integrating it with existing institutional systems, managing curriculum and timetable data, supporting resource allocation and workflows, and providing reporting, maintenance and continuing product development. Suppliers with experience of education-sector scheduling, operational change, technical consultancy and long-term support are likely to be well placed. The planned lot is expressly suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises, so specialist firms may be able to participate, either independently or alongside partners covering implementation, integration or support. The requirement remains under consideration and is not currently open for bids.
