Summary of the contracting process

The Forestry Commission in the United Kingdom has recently completed a procurement process for the "National Framework for Hard Facilities Management Services." This tender, classified under the services category, revolves around the need to service, repair, and maintain various built estates across Scotland. It was executed through an open procurement method, with the tender open for bids until 31 July 2018. The resulting contracts for various lots include essential services like electrical installations, heating and ventilation, and asbestos management, commencing on 29 October 2018 for a duration of three years, with possible extensions. The total value of the framework amounts to £2,485,000.

This procurement presents substantial opportunities for both large enterprises and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that specialise in facilities management, construction, and environmental services, particularly those with expertise in the specific service areas requested in the lots. Companies operating in areas such as fire engineering, water hygiene, asbestos removal, and demolition shall find a competitive landscape conducive to growth and expansion. The framework allows for bidders to secure contracts across many service areas, thus enhancing the potential for multi-service partnerships and ongoing collaborations with public bodies like the Forestry Commission and Scottish National Heritage.
