The Tay Cities local authorities are seeking to create a full fibre network connecting public buildings and re-using existing ducting and fibre assets to provide gigabit capable network services.

Lot 1

The Tay Cities local authorities (Angus, Dundee, Fife, Perth and Kinross) are currently in dialogue with the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) with regards to an application to Wave 3 of the Local Full Fibre Network (LFFN) Challenge Fund. The Tay Cities Deal recently agreed by UK and Scottish governments recognises that the provision of world class digital infrastructure is essential to the development of a thriving and prosperous economy and society with the Deal area. Some amounts of funding were allocated to support fibre asset re-use, wireless and 5G development as part of the Heads of Terms Agreement signed in November 2018. In addition the Councils have entered dialogue with DCMS over potential funding from the LFFN Challenge Fund to create a full fibre network connecting public buildings and re-using existing ducting and fibre assets to provide gigabit capable network services. The Councils are holding a Supplier Market Information Event at Dundee City Council offices on 13th February from 12.30 - 16.15..
