The London Borough of Hillingdon (Hillingdon) has introduced a charge for garden waste policy that came into effect on the 7th of July 2025 from which residents are issued with three (3) tags to put on their green waste bags and the resident can request an additional three (3) tags if needed. As of the 20th of August 2025, a total of 21,679 households has signed up to the garden waste service with 81,642 tags being delivered. The purpose of the contract is to secure the supply of zip tags in accordance with the councils' requirements for garden waste collections and delivered within agreed timescales and quantities. Hillingdon council will request an initial batch to be delivered at the start of the year in accordance with its forecasts with a potential order being placed within the year should it be required. The London Borough of Hillingdon Children's services are planning to run an open tender for the provision of Parenting Programme of support and development for families whose children are at the risk of exploitation. The service provider will be expected to deliver training programmes, seminars and workshops which can be interactive in nature and useful in regards to parenting support and development. The service provider will work towards attracting, recruiting, training and supporting a model of Parenting support facilitators and volunteer Parent Champions. Hillingdon Council, together with Ealing and Harrow Councils, have successfully secured an extension for a West London partnership bid under the GLA's UK Shared Prosperity Funds (UKSPF) to continue delivering a 'Supplier Readiness' program for tailored business support provision in each of the three boroughs. The programme runs from 1st October 2025 to 31st March 26 and aims to support 150 SMEs overall, with each borough having its own individual target of 50 SMEs. The main objectives are to support businesses to increase bid capability; broker introductions to Tier 1 & 2 suppliers, Public Sector, Anchor Institutes, and other corporate buyers; enabling SMEs to be more visible and have greater access to market opportunities. It is also hoped that many jobs will be created and safeguarded as a result. The programme complements the Council's role in supporting equality, diversity and economic inclusion with specific targets to support Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME), disabled and women led SMEs, in sectors hit hardest by the pandemic. In Hillingdon there is also a high concentration of SMEs which rely on the aviation industry and its extensive supply chain.
