Summary of the contracting process

The public procurement contracting process under discussion is spearheaded by Cornwall Council, focusing on a "Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) Concession" within the UK, specifically in Cornwall. This initiative forms part of a public services industry category and is currently in the tender stage, reflecting its active status. The procurement seeks to design, install, operate, and maintain an on-street electric vehicle charging network with substantial backing of up to £3,109,000 of LEVI funding, to ensure the deployment of at least 2,000 charge points by December 2029. Interested parties must submit their electronic tenders via the e-procurement portal by 30th September 2026, with the project anticipated to commence on 7th May 2027 and potentially extend over 16 years.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in vehicle refuelling services, electrical installations, and system maintenance services. Those capable of delivering high-quality charge points and ensuring their ongoing functionality are invited to contribute to this ambitious infrastructure endeavour. The contract is well-suited to firms of any size, given its SME suitability status, and provides avenues for growth by participating in a pioneering project that aligns with national decarbonisation goals. With strategic objectives like affordable pricing and the use of green energy, companies that can address these aspects stand to make substantial gains in both reputation and business scaling opportunities.
