Summary of the contracting process

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is in the planning stage of a substantial procurement process for an Estate Services Facilities Management contract. The current focus is on preliminary market engagement to shape the approach towards a Total Facilities Management (TFM) service model that will integrate services such as cleaning, maintenance, security, and waste management across approximately 85 sites in the UK. The procurement process aims to transition from a multi-supplier model to an integrated approach to enhance efficiency, consistency, and value for money. Key dates include a milestone for preliminary market engagement due by 12 August 2026, with a future contract period starting on 25 September 2028, extending to 24 September 2036, and potentially until 2038.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in facilities management services, particularly those experienced in integrating services under the NEC4 contractual framework. It offers a promising avenue for companies that provide innovative service delivery models, technology solutions, and sustainable practices. The contract's scale, valued at £200 million with a gross potential up to £240 million, is ideal for businesses adept in managing large, multi-site operations, and those capable of delivering consistent service standards, efficient operations, and enhanced accountability. This engagement is a gateway for service providers to contribute to NHSBT's objectives and explore growth through a potential long-term partnership.
