Summary of the contracting process

Nexus Multi Academy Trust plans to establish a multi-supplier ICT framework for education-sector contracting authorities across the United Kingdom. The framework is intended to provide a compliant route to market for ICT services, professional consultancy and technology products. Its planned scope has three lots: ICT support and managed services, covering technical support, infrastructure, cloud, cyber security, networking, connectivity, installation and maintenance; professional services, covering consultancy, strategy, architecture, project and programme management, digital transformation, audits, compliance, training and implementation; and hardware, covering devices, servers, storage, network and classroom technology, peripherals, accessories and deployment. Nexus will establish and operate the framework, which eligible education-sector authorities will be able to use. The detailed scope and lot structure remain subject to final development.

This procurement is at the planning stage: Nexus has announced an intention to procure, but has not yet invited tenders. The expected procedure is an open procedure under the Procurement Act 2023, with multiple suppliers intended for each lot. It is planned as an open framework, with call-offs both with and without reopening competition. Indicative dates are an enquiry period ending 25 September 2026, a future tender notice expected on 9 September 2026, tender submissions expected by 9 October 2026, and award expected by 30 November 2026. The framework is planned to run from 4 January 2027 to 3 January 2035. A successful supplier fee of 0.75% of award value is set out. Final specifications, award criteria and framework arrangements remain to be published.

The framework is likely to suit ICT managed-service providers, technical support and infrastructure specialists, cloud and cyber-security businesses, network and connectivity providers, and suppliers able to install and maintain education technology. It also suits ICT consultancies and professional advisers with experience in strategy, architecture, programme delivery, digital transformation, audits, compliance, implementation, continuing professional development and training. Hardware manufacturers, distributors and deployment partners may be relevant for end-user devices, servers, storage, networking, classroom technology, peripherals and audio-visual equipment. Suppliers should be able to support education providers and work with contracting authorities across the UK. Notice Description

Nexus Multi Academy Trust intends to establish a multi-supplier ICT Procurement Framework to provide education sector contracting authorities with a compliant route to market for the procurement of ICT services, professional consultancy and technology products. Nexus is a CIPS Procurement Excellence Programme accredited Multi Academy Trust (supported through the DfE ESCC/TALI initiative) and a partner of the Positive Change Alliance (PCA), comprising Multi Academy Trusts working collaboratively to improve procurement outcomes across the education sector. The Framework is being developed to provide an accessible, flexible and competitive procurement solution capable of supporting the diverse ICT requirements of education providers. The procurement is expected to be conducted using the Open Procedure under the Procurement Act 2023, with the intention of appointing multiple suppliers to each lot. The Framework will be established and operated wholly by Nexus Multi Academy Trust and will be available for use by eligible contracting authorities operating within the education sector. The Framework has been developed specifically to meet the needs of education providers, providing a compliant, flexible and competitive route to market for a broad range of ICT products, services and solutions. The Framework is currently expected to comprise the following lots: * Lot 1 ICT Support Services and Managed Services - Provision of managed ICT services, technical support, infrastructure management, cloud services, cyber security, networking, connectivity, installation, maintenance and associated ICT support services. * Lot 2 Professional Services - Provision of ICT consultancy, strategy development, architecture, project and programme management, digital transformation, technical advisory services, audits, compliance support, CPD & training, implementation and other specialist professional services. * Lot 3 Hardware - Supply of ICT hardware and associated products, including end-user devices, servers, storage, networking equipment, classroom technology, peripherals, accessories and associated deployment services. The Framework scope, lot structure and service requirements remain subject to final development.
