Summary of the contracting process

Nexus Multi Academy Trust is establishing an ICT framework for itself and eligible public-sector schools and colleges across the United Kingdom. It covers three areas: managed ICT support, including service desks, infrastructure, networks, cloud, cybersecurity and safeguarding technology; professional services such as consultancy, technical design, project delivery, digital transformation, migration, training and advisory work; and hardware supply, installation and configuration, including end-user devices, servers, networking, storage and classroom audiovisual equipment. Suppliers can support technology from planning and specification through deployment, ongoing support and replacement. The framework is intended to give education organisations a route to procure technology that supports teaching, learning and operational needs. Nexus will run the framework, which is also available to eligible academy trusts, maintained schools, non-maintained special schools and registered independent schools.

The buyer invited offers through an open procedure to establish an open framework, divided into three lots: ICT support and managed services, professional services, and hardware. Suppliers could bid for one or more lots, with no cap on appointments per lot. The framework was planned to run from 11 January 2027 to 10 January 2035, with schemes reopening annually to admit new suppliers; individual schemes may have extension options. The estimated maximum value is £1 billion excluding VAT, split into estimated lot values of £333,333,333.34 for Lot 1 and £333,333,333.33 each for Lots 2 and 3; this is potential spend, not guaranteed business. Enquiries were due by 26 October 2026 at 17:00 and tenders by 11 November 2026 at 12:00. Evaluation for each lot weights quality at 60%, social value at 10% and price at 30%.

The opportunity suits suppliers able to serve education organisations, from individual projects or purchases to broad managed-service and technology programmes. Lot 1 is for providers with operational and strategic ICT capability, including remote and on-site support, service desks, secure infrastructure, cloud, networks, backup, disaster recovery, management information systems and safeguarding technology. Lot 2 suits ICT consultancies and specialists able to advise and deliver across solution architecture, cybersecurity, cloud strategy, systems integration, data migration, project management, procurement support, training and change adoption. Lot 3 is for hardware suppliers able to provide and deploy devices, servers, networking, storage and classroom technology, with installation, configuration, asset management, warranty and refresh support. Small and medium-sized enterprises and voluntary, community and social enterprises are identified as suitable. Economic and technical selection criteria apply; specific thresholds are set out in the tender documents. Each lot gives quality and social value substantial weight alongside price.
