Notice Description
The Supplier Development Programme in partnership will hold the 8th Annual Meet the Buyer North as an in-person, face-to-face event on Wednesday 10 September 2025 at the Music Hall, Aberdeen. Focusing on one-to-one in-person networking, Meet the Buyer North 2025 will allow your business or social enterprise to connect with "real" buyers from across the public sector, as well as private contractors with supply chain opportunities and business support providers, all under one roof. Business will be able to meet procurement teams from local councils, alongside other public and private sector buying organisations, private contractors and business support organisations that are all based in the North of Scotland. Whatever the size of a business, Meet the Buyer North events are useful to attend when considering bidding for future contracting opportunities, as they are specifically designed to help suppliers with the tendering process. Meet the Buyer events can help suppliers understand what the buyers are looking for, introduce them to innovative goods, works and services, and can give suppliers insight on how bids are and will be evaluated from a procurement perspective. Meet the Buyer events also offer the opportunity to engage with business support initiatives, such as the Supplier Development Programme, local authority economic development representatives and Business Gateway representatives. There will be a focus on construction supply chain particularly around civil engineering, and this includes the Scottish Government DPS which has various lots Lot 1: general civil engineering works Projects may include, but are not limited to, earthworks, site clearance, tree felling, construction, repairs, maintenance, replacing and installations of landscaping, drainage and drainage systems, fencing, footpaths, cycleways, access tracks, paving, signage, railings and other civil engineering work activities. Lot 2: roads Projects may include, but are not limited to road, construction, foundation and surfacing works, alterations, repairs and maintenance, and control, safety or signalling equipment. Lot 3: structures Projects may include, but are not limited to bridge maintenance, strengthening, repairs, refurbishment and construction, parapets, retaining structures, culverts, temporary works, foundations, demolition/removal, painting protective coatings, blast cleaning, mechanical inspections services and miscellaneous structures. Lot 4: geotechnical services and related works Projects may include, but are not limited to, geotechnical engineering services, foundations, embankments, piling, groundworks, ground stabilization, investigations, monitoring and reporting. Lot 5: utilities Projects may include, but are not limited to, public utilities, utility diversions, ducting, public lighting repairs, parts, installations, replacing, commissioning, equipment and maintenance, and traffic lights installations, repairs, replacing and maintenance. Lot 6: harbour, coastal, rivers, flood and marine Projects may include, but are not limited to, construction works, maintenance, repairs and replacing for dams and similar fixed structures, lighting for ship & river guidance and illuminations, coastal defences, river regulation and flood control works, river wall construction and protection works, marine works, river works, coastal works, waterway diversions, canals, pontoons, jetties and piers.
