Summary of the contracting process

The public procurement process involves the Scottish Borders Council seeking bids for the "Repairs & Maintenance (Trades) Framework" within the services industry. The framework, designed to manage repairs and maintenance for over 800 Council buildings, has a budget of approximately £4.7 million per annum and is aimed at ensuring efficient upkeep of the public estate. The tender period is currently active, with submissions accepted until 1st August 2019. The procurement is being conducted via an open procedure, allowing multiple suppliers to participate in the bidding process.

This tender presents significant opportunities for various businesses, particularly those in trades such as electrical work, plumbing, roofing, painting and decorating, and general building maintenance. Given the comprehensive nature of the services required — from electrical appliance repairs to more specialized maintenance tasks — small to large firm contractors with relevant experience and qualifications should consider bidding. Companies capable of providing multi-trade solutions and those with a focus on community benefits will be particularly well-placed to secure contracts under this procurement framework.
